CTEHAs 30th Annual Education Conference will be held May 26 27 in San Marcos. We have been working hard to beef up the conference and are really proud of the program our Governing Council has put together. We will have our usual General Sanitation and OSSF Tracts, but have added two new tracts. We will be offering a special 8 hour tract called TFER 101 taught by Ruth Hendy, from DSHS. We are also very proud to be offering for the first time an Animal Care tract. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces, and meeting a lot of new people at the conference with the addition of these new tracts. As usual, CTEHA is offering the Conference at a very low price. We will also be providing a BBQ lunch on Thursday, and hosting a Happy Hour on Wednesday evening. Look for the Conference Agenda and Registration in the Beacon and on the TEHA website. Hope to see you in San Marcos in May! Lori Calzoncit |

The North Texas Chapter has been busy as a little bee! February 2, 2010, the North Texas Chapter attended Career Fair Day at UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth. February 17, 2010, an official notification letter was sent to the Acuna Family regarding name change for the North Texas Chapter Meritorious Service Award. The February quarterly meeting was held in North Richland Hills with an attendance of 122 members! The City of North Richland Hills (NRC) and City Manager, Mark Hindman, unfolded a welcome that will resonate through our organization for years to come. The Birdville Learning Center staff, NRH Consumer Health Division and Construction Tech students were very accommodating with technical assistance, hospitality, kindness, and so much more. (Thank you). If you recall, last quarter, your feedback was requested by your council. Your council created a survey to gather data from you! The results are in! The survey says that: · The majority
of you are in agreement with electronic correspondence from TEHA. Special thanks
to Ahsan Khan, MS, REHS/RS, Manager II of the Department of Code Compliance
for the City of Dallas. His contribution to Environmental Health cannot
go without mention as he has worked diligently and has been a valuable
asset to the North Texas Chapter in arranging for enhancement of learning
for EH professionals. He arranged Dr. Dojin Ryu, Associate Professor,
Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Texas Womens University,
to present an overview of microbiology at our May 6, 2010 quarterly
meeting. Speaking of persons of impact, your TEHA Vice President, North
Texas member, Janet Tucker continues to provide direction to the North
Texas Chapter as it relates to the inclusion of Animal Control topics
for our Quarterly meetings. As a result, your council is working to
secure topics related to Animal Control for the August 5, 2010 quarterly
meeting. Thank you Janet! |
