ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER I/II - ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH 2007-274

Will perform a variety of duties including the enforcement of animal related laws and ordinances and collection of stray animals posing a threat to public health and safety.

REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate or equivalent; the ability to control various animals, prepare clear and concise reports, deal with unpleasant situations in a professional manner. Must have the ability to respond to emergency calls quickly; have possession of, or the ability to obtain within one year of employment, certification as an Animal Control Officer; and possess a Texas Driver License with acceptable driving record. Office skills such as computer experience and telephone work.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: One year of job experience in animal control, law enforcement, veterinary work, or related field and the ability to speak and understand Spanish.

SALARY: $9.97 per hour
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, others As Required

Note: After successful completion of a training period and obtaining a certification, the employee may promote to Animal Control Officer II and receive $10.72 per hour.
