Hello
my fellow TEHA members
What a great Annual Education Conference we had
Great to
see some old and new faces
.hated to miss those faces that
could not attend. A big THANK YOU to Kandy and Steve Berry for
all of their hard work and great efforts to helping making TEHA
a very thriving organization and also to Betty Richardson for
all of her hard work in organizing and delegating the program.
What a great success!

Where does the time
go? Thirteen years ago in October, I started what I thought was my career,
but have come to realize that it is my Passion. Many of you probably
have that same thought be that of 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 20 plus years
in the industry. It takes a unique person to fill our shoes
.we
wear many hats during our days and for the most part
no one really
recognizes us in what we do, but I must say-that should never stop us
in performing our duties well.
I like to strive for "ordinary excellence." I don't always
succeed at doing my job with excellence, but if my conscious intent
is to be excellent in the humble day-to-day tedium of my job as well
as in the big, visible projects, then I am regularly strengthening the
foundations of my skill set. World-class sprinters still attend to the
basics of good nutrition, the best gear, warm ups and stretching exercises.
They cannot regularly leap out on the track and run the 100-meters in
"personal best" time if they are always poorly fed and wearing
worn-out running shoes. Today, for you and me in the public health industry,
this basic maintenance translates to honing one's skills in some simple,
but important tasks. These humble tasks range from the occasional close
reading of rules for proper interpretation or reviewing research results
that supports that we should change how we have been performing our
duties for years.
I look forward to serving and representing this organization
as
we face those daily challenges I would like to leave you all with a
couple of thoughts
Always do your job with Excellence and Innovation.
