In Loving Memory: Terry Ricks

Beloved son, brother, and friend,Terry Alton Ricks, passed on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 surrounded by his family at the age of 64. Terry was born on November 5, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Alton and Carole Ricks.
Terry is survived by his parents; brothers, Michael Ricks, Gary Ricks, Richard Ricks (Cyndi); sister Karen Ricks, and numerous nieces and nephews’, close friends Andrew Cooper and Faye Cooper and their son.
Terry graduated from Highlands High School in 1973. After graduation, he continued his education at Texas Lutheran College earning his Bachelors’ of Science. Then proceeded to earn his Masters in Microbiology at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Terry joined the Cub Scouts in Houston when he was in the third grade. When the family moved to San Antonio, he continued his love for scouting, joining the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 167. Terry stayed active in the Boy Scouts for 55 years earning many honors including a Silver Beaver Award.
Terry worked for the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District. His first assignment was as a lab technician working at various health clinics in the city. He advanced his career with the health department, became a Registered Professional Sanitarian, and worked in this position until his retirement in January 2015.
In addition to his many accomplishments, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, photography, and weaponry. He was a member at Good Shepherd Lutheran church and served as the treasurer. Terry loved his family and especially enjoyed attending family gatherings and events.
