The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) hosted a public information forum in Austin on January 5th related to the transfer of six licensing program to TDLR.  One of the licensing programs that are impacted is the R.S. credentialing program.  The forums were very constructive and provided those impacted an opportunity to hear directly from TDLR and to learn how the agency is organized and operates in advance of the November 1, 2017 program transfer.  TDLR questioned the group to elicit idea on where the focus needs to be during the transitional period but also looking in the future.  Specifically, TDLR focused on what was going well with the program, and also on what opportunities for improvement exist.  Most of the discussion regarding the R.S. credential was around improving initial application turn-around times, and reducing the cost of the credential.  Finally, TDLR recommends that you renew your R.S. 1-2 months early  if it expires in October or November.
